Magazine evaluation
The target audience for my magazine was for pupils of The Howard of Effingham, and also the parents. The purpose of my magazine was to provide information to pupils and parents about coming up events in the school.
My magazine follows the codes and conventions as I have placed the picture and writing in particular places to make it look like a real magazine. For my contents page I followed a layout of a particular contents page to help inspire me and to keep to the codes and conventions of a magazine.
My contents page it quite different in terms of colour from my front cover I chose purple on my front cover because that is the colour that relates to the science college, but I have stuck with the same font throughout, but wanted the pages to be different so it would be a more interesting magazine.
The reason I chose the image on my front cover is because the boy was related well to the magazine obviously because he goes to the Howard of Effingham. He is the centre image of my front cover and is dressed very smartly to give the school a good image. My image is direct mode of address because he is looking straight into the camera.
I used the magnetic lasso to cut out my image and put it on my purple background, I also increased the brightness of the picture to connote a more cheerful environment.
I chose the font Tamhoma, because I think it is bold and easy and clear to see but still looks smart, so my font appeals to both parents and children.
I think that my front cover of my magazine is more informal but my contents page is more formal. I didn’t use any buzz words on my front cover, but I used buzz words such as exclusive on my contents page, I used the word because it will it draws your target audience in because it makes them feel like they are getting something out of the magazine which they wont find anywhere else.
Mainly on my contents page is where I used anchorage as I have images that related to text on the page.
Overall I feel happy with my designs, although I feel I could have improved on my front cover, and added more detail to it if I had more time.
